3D Modeling and Animation
A significant focus of my Masters Degree in Digital Media was to study 3D modeling and animation. Over the course of three classes, I learned both the technical aspects of designing and animating in 3DS Max and the design aspects of what makes good modeling and animation. What you see here is my progression through these classes, starting with simple modeling and working all the way through to a polished short video clip. Simply click on any of the images below to view my work as a 3D modeler and animator.
My first project was to design a Rube Goldberg machine, without any background or textures, and to take several screenshots of its progression. This progression was not animated in any way; the objects were put into specific positions for each still shot. My design was based on the machine from the game "Mousetrap". For my second project, I chose a place and some items that could be considered a shrine and totems in my life. I made a shrine to my childhood, set in a tree cave that was my fort as a child, and the totem item I placed at the center was my old teddy bear, who was my constant companion when I was young. Also in the scene, I placed my old red wagon, my favorite summer hat, the homemade bow and arrows I played with, and my favorite childhood book, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Click "NEXT" to see four separate images of the shrine, each of which use lighting and camera angle to convery four distinct moods
